Sam
Sherman, Principal
has more than 28 years experience in the design and construction
industries. His academic training in Architecture was at The Rhode
Island School of Design and the Boston Architectural Center. Coming
to Vineyard to live in 1970, Sam worked as a carpenter for many
years, doing general contracting himself before hired by Architect
Niels Gabel Jorgensen. Sam was with Niels for over six years doing
residential and commercial design. Although Sam still holds a
Massachusetts Contractor's License, he has devoted his time solely
to design for the past 16 years. As Principal of the firm, Mr.
Sherman is directly involved in all projects taking a lead role
in the design process and relying heavily on his construction
experience during the preparation of construction documents. Although
other members of the firm may share the load during construction
administration, Sam remains actively involved in each project
through its conclusion.
Laurie
Jacobs, Associate
received a Bachelors
of Science in Interior Design from the University of Connecticut.
Laurie has 17 years experience in the design profession. Her professional
experience includes a sales representative for the Sherwin Williams
Company concentrating on home builder, contractor and property management
markets. She has been a project manager for Grove Development; a
subsidiary of Grove Investments Group in the facilitating of renovation
projects. Such projects include club houses, fitness centers, community
centers and the complete renovation of the Colonial Inn located
on the Vineyard. She developed project plans and provided comprehensive
design services for each. Moving to the Vineyard in 1996 from Connecticut,
she briefly provided design services for a local architect, before
joining Sam Sherman Associates full time. Laurie's main focus is
to work with clients in choosing and specifying all interior finishes;
cabinetry, tile, flooring, lighting, plumbing fixtures and any other
detailed finishes to complete the interior of the home. Laurie often
applies her drafting skills for space planning, electrical and lighting
plans and detail interior elevations.
Tom
Carberry
is a graduate
of Syracuse University and has worked in the marine industry for
25 years. Experienced in all phases of boat building and repair,
Tom specialized in design, pattern making, illustration and technical
drawing. Other pursuits include residential carpentry, architectural
rendering and model making, and fine art. Tom measures and records
information related to existing buildings for renovation projects
as well as additions. Tom also works on Construction Drawings preparing
site plans, floor plans, and elevations.
Kelley
Rosa
Graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wentworth Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. As an undergrad, Kelly specialized in commercial design and used both hand drafting and CAD as mediums. While attending Wentworth, she worked as an intern for a design/build firm where she specialized in millwork drawings, space planning, and finish materials. After graduating, she joined Sam Sherman Associates to provide both architectural and interiors services. Kelly is our chief CAD operator and oversees drawing production on all CAD projects. |
