This residence was featured in Martha's Vineyard Magazine Home & Garden, Summer 2010. On seven acres on Katama's Herring Creek Farm facing southwest to Edgartown Great Pond and the barrier beach, the owner's objective was to maximize the the privacy of the site while respecting the natural beauty of the sand plain. The idea here was: the house should not announce itself. The construction of the building ws planned to impart minimal impact on its surroundings. Several hidden sitting and eating areas, gardens, and a pool are highlighted by locally natural plantings. The large overhangs and hip roof anchor the house to the ground while minimizing the mass of the 2 story structure. |
